In Information and Technology Skills classes at NAIS, students develop essential digital literacy and responsible technology use aligned with American curriculum standards such as ISTE and integrated digital practices. They'll master foundational tools like keyboarding, file management, and productivity software (Google Workspace or Microsoft Office) for creating documents, presentations, and spreadsheets, while learning online research skills, evaluating sources, and citing information ethically. Guided by expert teachers, learners engage in hands-on projects, collaborative online activities, and discussions to build computational thinking, problem-solving, and safe internet practices in an interactive, device-rich classroom environment.
Students also explore introductory coding and digital creation through block-based programming (like Scratch), basic algorithms, and multimedia projects such as animations, digital storytelling, or simple app prototypes. They'll address digital citizenship topics including privacy, cybersecurity, cyberbullying prevention, and positive online communication, often integrating technology across subjects. This core subject not only fosters technical proficiency and innovation but also prepares students for ethical, effective participation in a connected world and future STEM pathways.
