English Second Language Program:

At NAIS we use the “SMILE interactive English series”. It is an authentic language series for all learners of English as a second language. SMILE curriculum’s key focus is an improvement in the quality of teaching and learning in English as the core foundation for improved proficiency in all subject areas.

Assessment:

We encourage teachers to do as many assessments as possible throughout the academic year.

  • Formative assessment:

This type of assessment includes class tests, homework, assignments and projects, and book marks.

  • Summative assessment:

This type of assessment includes control tests (written once during every 6-week grading period) and examinations written in November, February and May.

  • Reporting

Academic progress reports are sent out at the end of every 6-week grading periods. Parent/teacher interviews are held twice a year.

Professional development:

The core business of a school is teaching and learning. As teachers, our classroom practice has to be rigorous and meaningful. Professional development is, therefore, an integral part of the academic’s staff program at NAIS.

The professional development program at NAIS is been driven by:

  • Educational objectives
  • Classroom observations
  • Peer review
  • Staff’s ability to embrace the changes in the teaching and learning practices in classrooms around the world.
